Over a day of travel and 20+ hours in the air, but we finally made it to Bangkok!
It was super late by the time we got into the city and settled in, but our first order of business was to get some street food.
This was my first time having mango sticky rice. It quickly became a favorite of ours.

We had dinner on our first full day at a restaurant located on the river with a great view of the bridge

The street food is everywhere in Bangkok, and it’s really good.
We had an after dinner cocktail at the rooftop bar where they filmed the hangover.
The next day we visited the Grand Palace. It was super crowded, but still cool to see.
We found a quiet corner away from the crowds.
Lisa has talked about the candied street guava that she used to get in Bangkok since we met. I finally got to try it. It was nice and refreshing.
We visited the reclining Buddha temple after leaving the Grand Palace.
You don’t see this side in photos very often.
It’s very hard to show the scale. It is massive.
We visited the Chatachuk weekend market for lunch. It was pretty dead (it wasn’t the weekend), but we still had some pretty good noodles.
It’s hard to capture the traffic in Bangkok in a photo or video. It is next level. Much worse than anywhere I’ve been. If you’re ever visiting Bangkok, do not believe Google Maps’ travel times. They must be thrown off by the number of motorcycles in the city that are able to weave in and out of traffic.
The red lights last ages in Bangkok (several minutes long). All the motorcycles line up at the front of each one, and it’s like motorcross whenever a light turns green.
We saw these fried coconut pancakes (Kanom Krok) on a travel blog/channel and searched for them. We were just about to give up on finding them and we turned a corner and there she was!
The pancakes were delicious. Melt in your mouth, with a burst of coconut milk.
Street markets were seemingly around every corner in Bangkok.

Lisa loves pad see ew. We searched around for the best pad see ew and ended up going to a random neighborhood and having a really authentic lunch.
The next morning we flew to our next stop, Chiang Mai. The airport had good, cheap curry.
The smog in Bangkok was like the traffic – next level. Bangkok might be one of my new favorite places, but the air was wearing on both of us by the end of our time there.
