The next leg of our trip took us to Khao Sok national park. We spotted this guy walking an elephant during the car ride there.
It was a long ride to the entrance of Khao Sok. From here, we had an hour and a half longtail boat ride to our destination.
The boat ride out was a large part of the trip. The scenery was pretty breathtaking. The lake is huge, and is manmade.

The water was cool and refreshing.
The sounds the bugs would make at night was unlike any we’d heard. It was hard to capture in video, particularly how loud they were.

These are the floating bunglows that we stayed in. It was very remote. It was pretty cool to be out in the middle of the jungle.
The next day, we had a “jungle hike.” The boat took us to a hiking trail, where we hiked out to a cave.

The hike went through several rivers/creeks.
Our hike actually went inside the cave. It wasn’t too far in, but it was all in water. There were points that you had to swim. There have been some deaths/accidents here (some pretty high-profile), so it was a little unnerving, but unique.

We had another sunset boat tour on the lake during our second evening.
It genuinely looks like this at Khao Sok. It seems to be off the radar of a lot of the big tourist destinations… hopefully it stays that way.
