Austin Half Marathon
In an effort to see new places, I decided to start signing up for races in cities that we’d never been to before (at least together). I found a half marathon in Austin and decided to give it a go. We stayed downtown, and found a strip of bars and restaurants nearby on Rainey street that we really enjoyed. This was a favorite spot of ours during our stay, called Bangers.
The race was a one-way half-marathon that billed itself as “downhill to downtown.”
We had to try the BBQ while in Texas. Our hotel was only a few blocks from Franklin’s, but people were literally camping out for that. We crossed the river and had some amazing bbq at Terry Black’s, with no wait.
We spent our last full day (the day of the race) walking down Congress to check out another area of town. This was crossing the bridge back into downtown.
We went back to Bangers before our flight out for an epic brunch, including “manmosas,” a big brass band, and a russian imperial stout named “Hammer Smashed Face.” IYKYK.
